We install tado° X on your boiler and radiators and set everything up. You can then set the temperature for each room, also in the app.

When does tado° work well in your home?
Connection to your heating system
tado° X controls your boiler via on/off or OpenTherm, as well as a suitable heat pump (without cooling). We can tell from your photos whether your boiler is suitable.
Smart radiator thermostats
The radiator thermostats fit on thermostatic valves. The box includes adapters for the most common valves, such as Danfoss.
Control each room
With radiator valves you set your own temperature and schedule per room in the tado° app. This way you only heat the rooms you use.
How it works
1. Request with photos
Fill in the request form, with photos of your radiator valves, your boiler including the pipes underneath, your thermostat and, if you have underfloor heating, the manifold.
2. Quote
With your photos we assess your installation and prepare a quote. If anything is missing, we will get in touch.
3. Installation
Once you agree, we usually schedule the installation within 2 to 3 weeks. We fit the thermostat and the radiator thermostats.
4. Set-up
Install the tado° app beforehand and create an account. On the day, we link the tado° devices to your account, set them up on your boiler and radiators and show you how to charge the radiator thermostats. You get a 12-month guarantee on our installation.

How quickly can you install?
Once you agree, we usually schedule the installation within 2 to 3 weeks. If you are adding several radiator thermostats, we agree the planning with you in advance.
Do you also work with existing installations?
Yes. tado° is well suited to existing installations: the thermostat connects to your boiler via on/off or OpenTherm (we can tell from your photos whether your boiler is suitable) and the radiator thermostats replace the thermostatic head on your radiator valve. Can I extend tado° X later?
Yes. tado° X is modular: you start with a thermostat and add smart radiator thermostats room by room later. Thanks to Matter, you can also connect tado° X to other smart devices in your home. Please note: tado° X does not work with older tado° devices (V3+). If you already have those, we replace them with tado° X. If your current tado° controls the boiler by modulation, we first check whether tado° X can do the same with your boiler.
A radiator without a smart thermostat heats up as soon as the boiler fires. Set that valve to frost protection and open it when you use the room.
Do the radiator thermostats fit my valves?
The tado° radiator thermostats work on thermostatic valves (recognisable by the numbers 1 to 5). For valves from Danfoss, Comap, Herz, Caleffi and Giacomini, among others, tado° includes the adapter in the box. Valves from Vaillant, Oventrop, Ista or Orkli need a separate adapter; it will then be in the quote.
If you still have manual valves, we replace them with a suitable thermostatic valve. To do this, we drain the system and then refill and bleed it; on that day the heating is off for part of the time.
Why is there a bypass valve on my quote?
If you have your own boiler and your radiators get smart thermostats, we fit a bypass valve at the boiler. If all thermostats close at the same time, the water has nowhere else to go; that is bad for the pump and the boiler. If a good one is already there, we do not fit a second one. With district heating it is not needed.
I have underfloor heating. What then?
If the underfloor heating runs on the same boiler as your radiators, a zone valve is needed so the floor does not heat up whenever a radiator thermostat calls for heat. Sometimes one is already fitted, sometimes not, and it is not always at the manifold: sometimes it sits under the boiler. We check your photos and ask for an extra photo if needed. If it is missing, we fit a Honeywell zone valve and include it in the quote.
The knob on your manifold is not a radiator valve: no smart thermostat goes on it. We control the floor with the zone valve.
I have district heating. Does that work too?
Yes. If your underfloor heating and radiators are on the same heat interface unit, the zone valve goes at the start, directly after the heat interface unit. With one valve per branch or floor, we create zones. A bypass valve is not needed with district heating. We can see what your home needs from your photos of the heat interface unit, the manifold and your thermostat.
What warranty do you offer?
The installation we carry out comes with a 12-month warranty. We supply the tado° equipment ourselves, and it is covered by the tado° manufacturer warranty:
- 24 months from the date of purchase, for defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
- Within those 24 months you do not have to prove that the defect was already there on delivery.
- tado° first looks into it remotely and sometimes solves it with a software update. If that does not work, you get a new or equivalent refurbished device.
- Not covered: misuse or your own modifications, lightning or power surges, moisture or leaks from the heating system, leaking batteries, cosmetic wear and a flow temperature above 85 °C.
If a tado°-registered installer fits the system and there is a 5-year guarantee card in the package, a 5-year guarantee applies. You claim it with the completed card and the proof of purchase. You will see whether that card is in your package at handover.
Your statutory rights still apply alongside this. The full rules are in article 12 of the tado° terms and conditions.
What about privacy and data security?
tado° processes data about your account, your devices and how you use them, such as the temperature at home, your settings and schedules, and data from your boiler. The app only shares your location if you switch that on, for example to turn the heating off when nobody is home. That location data is deleted automatically after 2 weeks.
Your data is kept for as long as you have a tado° account, and for a reasonable period afterwards for administration and legal obligations. tado° protects it with technical measures and works with certified partners; the data may also be stored outside the EU. You can ask tado° which data they hold about you and have it corrected, via privacy@tado.com.
The data controller is tado GmbH in Munich. Everything is in the tado° privacy policy.
Do I need a subscription for all tado° features?
Not for the basics. Without a subscription you control your heating in the app and set a schedule for each room. The paid tado° subscription is called AI Assist (monthly or yearly; you can see the price in the app). It does more for you automatically:
- the heating turns down when the last person leaves home, and warms up when you are on your way back;
- an open window is detected and that room stops heating;
- each room learns how quickly it heats up and cools down;
- with an OpenTherm boiler, the flow temperature is matched to the outside temperature;
- insight into your energy use, air quality and 13 months of history.
